Many homes will require the added protection of a RCD (Residual Current Device). These very sensitive circuit breakers offer a different kind of protection from that provided by fuses and miniature circuit breakers (MCB's). Even if your consumer-unit is more modern than any shown above, some homes have 60 Amp units installed. Most domestic peak-demand will exceed this rating and I always fit 100 Amp rated units.
