How to improve the overall safety of the electrical installation in your home

The new consumer unit is safer and easier to operate. Paul Yates Electrical usually fit miniature circuit breakers (MCB's) as they are cost-effective, easy to use and do not need any spare fuses to be kept and fitted. Many homes will require the added protection of a RCD (Residual Current Device). These very sensitive circuit breakers offer a different kind of protection from that provided by fuses and miniature circuit breakers (MCB's).

Even if your consumer-unit is more modern than any shown above, some homes have 60 Amp units installed. Most domestic peak-demand will exceed this rating and I always fit 100 Amp rated units.
