Security lights

Light up your path & deter intruders

Automatic lights can make walking up your own path safer!

At the start of any security lights plans, decide if the priority is burglar deterrent or illumination of dark paths and gates. This decision will affect how and where the lamps and sensors are located. In most cases 500 watt lamps should not be connected to the lighting circuit as this can cause an overload.

Passive Infra Red motion detectors which switch on outdoor lighting have improved considerably in the last 2 years. Not only do they detect a wider area but they also are less prone to false triggering from windy tree's etc.
The type shown above are fitted with tungsten halogen bulbs available in 150w,200w,300w & 500w. They are usually the most cost effective way to light the outside of your house. More ornamental types are available but in some cases they are less versatile and cost more to buy, often having reduced light output.

I am now fitting a new model with a 200° PIR detector rated at 500w.This is a well designed & constructed unit & comes with a 3 year guarantee. Maximum detection distance is 15 metres.
Some other units only achieve 12 metres. It can control up to
500 watts of additional lighting.
