Garage sockets

Garage & Workshop

Sockets used in a garage must be protected with a Residual Current Device (RCD) as must all sockets used for electric power tools out of doors.

RCD's: These very sensitive circuit breakers offer a different kind of protection from that provided by fuses and miniature circuit breakers (MCB's).

The real risk of electrocution when using an electric lawnmower, hedge-trimmer or jig-saw is very much higher.

Also in a workshop the use of metal-clad sockets is recommended as they are very much more durable
