Domestic electrical safety - 13 Amp plugs - Fuses
Some plugs and flexes should be protected by 1 , 2, 3 , 5 ,7 & 10A fuses, but instead are fitted with a 13A fuse.
This could be dangerous ! The flex fitted to many low power appliances (Radio's, table lamps, hi-fi, cassette players, etc) will not be protected by an 13A fuse. This can lead to risks of overheating & fire in the event of certain fault conditions in the appliance. You could have all the plugs in your home
checked, and any incorrect fuses replaced, for a modest fee. New Help section !
What to do if... The Yorkshire Electricity Board has a useful section on their website which describes a range of safety issues. Click here to view
