Advice

Domestic electricity,     What to do if ......

Your ceiling lights all go out

If your socket outlets still work and your ceiling lights do not, then it is most likely that the
lighting fuse/ circuit breaker has blown/ tripped.

If you have fuses then replace any blown fuse/ fuse wire (with the correct value/size- often 5 or 6 Amp -
for rewireable fuses this is the thinnest wire on the card marked 5 Amps).----OR
If you have circuit breakers then you will be able to see if any have tripped and reset them.

Most household lighting is run on dedicated lighting circuits usually protected by a 5 Amp fuse or 6 Amp circuit breaker
Shops and offices often have 10 Amp circuits

Circuit breakers protecting lighting circuits can sometimes be tripped by a standard type bulb 'blowing'.
